She graduated from New Augusta High School, and married J Norman Ely in 1940 (pictured right from 1950 Salem Parish Hall groundbreaking).

Johanne is survived by her brother John E. Meyers; sons Ralph N. Ely (Christine) and James F. Ely (Nika); daughter Susan Ely Carr; grandchildren Brian Ely, Melissa Ely Moore (Bruce), Christopher J. Ely, and Erin Carr Adams (Jason); and great-grandchildren Riley and Connor Moore. Johanne was preceded in death by her husband and brother James T. Meyers.

Services were held Tuesday, May 10 at Salem with burial at Bethel Cemetery.
