Rosemary Rader cooked up several desserts which would have been
known to pioneers and settlers of the Midwest in the 1800's.
Scripture Cake, a type of cake recipe remembered by early cooks by
the Bible verses describing it, will be featured. The recipe
we will serve is listed below.
We served pound cake and shortbread, both recipes brought by
early settlers to America, and also Apple Pandowdy. You do know how
to dowdy your pastry, don't you? We served Maids of Honor, a type of pastry well-known
during the Civil War. All of these baked goods were great
accompaniments to ice cream!
THANK YOU to Tom Alexander's table of local "artifacts" and to Gino
Agresti and Rhunell and David Gruender for their musical
contributions.
